GEAVET is a project funded by the EU. Specifically, it is financed within the funding program Erasmus+, category “Capacity Building”. GEAVET is a project composed of a series of initiatives addressing the challenges of climate change and the mismatch between job requirements and the skills provided by the education and vocational training systems in a specific context, namely that of Vocational and Educational Training systems in the field of Agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa. These initiatives include activities of research, needs analyses, development of training formats, mobility activities, online campaigns, and conferences. All of these actions are oriented towards the enhancement of T-VET capacities in Sub-Saharan Africa, empowering women and youths in agriculture and boosting digital and green transitions. The results, materials, outputs, and updates of every project activity will be made public and open access via this website and our social media accounts (see the icons at the end of this page)!
The GEAVET partnership comprises 7 partners from both the European Union and Sub-Saharan Africa. The 3 European partners are from Italy, Croatia and Greece. The remaining 4 partners are specifically hail from Mozambique, Nigeria, Uganda and Kenya. Each partner’s involvement in all project activities is tailored to their area of expertise, and this composition, together with an extensive network of associated partners, enables the project to effectively tackle the challenges posed by climate change and the persistent mismatch between the job requirements and the skills provided by the education and the vocational and training system in SSA.
Eduforma is a highly experienced Italian VET organisation, accredited in Veneto Region for Lifelong Learning training interventions (VET), Guidance Services and Labour. Founded in 2003, Eduforma offers management and human resources training and consultancy services. On the other hand, Eduforma develops, coordinates and manages training projects funded by the Veneto Region (through the European Social Fund), targeted to unemployed youth and adults and funded by the European Commission. Eduforma now has a strong experience in developing new models of training methods. The EU-funded projects area within Eduforma (EduInternational) is developing projects within Erasmus+, COSME, and Interreg funding schemes.
European Knowledge Spot is a non-profit organization committed to making information and knowledge accessible to all and creating a positive impact on education, social inclusion and to build an era of peace and sustainable development. The organization gives emphasis both in supporting the formal and non-formal education system and contributing to its equal access to all and also to designing and delivering customized lifelong learning, education and capacity building opportunities especially for populations with an underprivileged educational background.
Uganda Youth Skills Training Organization is a non-governmental organization founded in 2007, dedicated to facilitating access to socio-economic empowerment opportunities for youth and women. By engaging in activities spanning from school and community-based education to innovate ventures, UYSTO fosters sustainable development within communities, specifically targeting the most vulnerable communities of young people within age groups: teenagers (12-18), youths (18-28) and women (28-35).
Skink d.o.o. is a Croatian family company founded in Rovinj 1994, highly experienced in sustainable agriculture technology development. With a focus on sustainable agriculture, it boasts extensive expertise in agricultural technology development. Through direct collaboration with producers and farmers, Skink d.o.o. offers training programs tailored to meet labor market needs. These programs are hosted within their educational center, providing professional advice on agro-ecological techniques. Specializing in the successful production of fruit trees and ornamental plants, the nursery also provides consulting services and programs for cultivating permanent crops, in addition to organizing agricultural workshops.
The Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (I.A.R.&T), based at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, is a national multi-commodity institute for research, services and training for agricultural development of the country. Its activity focuses on developing, validating and sharing eco-friendly, affordable and adaptable agricultural technologies through effective agricultural research and extension systems.
Founded in 2010 in Kenya, the International Transformation Foundation is a youth led non-profit organization with a global reach. Dedicated to empowering young people, it offers educational and self-development programs centered on leadership and entrepreneurship. Specifically, the foundation aims to create youth systems that not only generate employment but also provide security, opportunities to grow and avenues for contributing to community development.
Associação de Educação de Jovens e Adultos de Nampula, headquartered in Nampula, Mozambique, is a non-governmental organization established in 2019. Its core mission is to promote environmental education among young people and adults in the region. The principal activity revolves around environmental protection, particularly by supporting eco-friendly practices, especially in agriculture and fishing, key sectors for the people in Nampula. It conducts training, workshops and demonstrations with the assistance of local government and other stakeholders. Moreover, the organization provides consultancy services and conducts research to further its environmental conservation efforts.
