March 2025 โ Rovinj, Croatia
The GEAVET project team successfully held the 1st ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ซ-๐ญ๐จ-๐๐๐๐ซ ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐ on March 4th and 5th, 2025, hosted by project partner Skink d.o.o. in the picturesque town of Rovinj, Croatia. The event brought together 15 representatives from partner countries, all committed to advancing climate-smart and sustainable practices in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The mobility focused on hands-on learning and knowledge exchange among TVET educators and trainers, highlighting real-world applications of green and adaptive farming methods. A series of study visits offered participants direct engagement with local producers and institutions at the forefront of sustainable innovation:
- At ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ข๐, an acclaimed organic olive oil producer, participants explored how inter-row cover crops, drip irrigation, and climate-resilient olive varieties are used to reduce environmental impact and improve farm resilience.
- At ๐๐๐๐๐ โ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐, the group learned about innovative public-private collaborations that promote local livestock production and traditional gastronomy, fostering regional economic development.
- A visit to ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ฌฬ๐๐งโ๐ฌ vegetable seedling farm showcased advanced automated sowing, transplanting, and micro-grafting techniquesโcrucial tools for adapting to increasingly arid conditions in agriculture.
- Participants then toured ๐๐ค๐ข๐ง๐คโ๐ฌ 10-hectare fruit orchard, which serves as a research site for agro-climatic adaptation. The orchard is home to native fruit species and trials of different planting methods to evaluate their suitability under changing climate conditions.
- The mobility concluded at ๐ฬ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ง ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฒ, where a Demeter-certified biodynamic wine producer shared insights into organic viticulture, the principles of biodynamic farming, and the certification process for sustainable wine production.
This immersive learning experience allowed participants to observe, discuss, and reflect on practical solutions to climate challenges, while also fostering cross-border collaboration and capacity building in vocational education.
The activity marked a key milestone in the GEAVET projectโs mission to equip educators with the tools and knowledge needed to support green transitions in agriculture, enhancing the relevance and impact of TVET across Europe and beyond.
